Mermaid Journal
1 Day Class

This is a wonderful fiber journal about the sea and its most beautiful inhabitants "MERMAIDS."
Learn how to create your own pages. We will embellish our front covers using velvet and tulle flowers I teach you to make and then adding charms, fancy fibers shells.
We will also create the flat mermaid that unfolds to reveal her beautiful long tail, which of course gets beaded and decorated with shells flowers and other sea findings.
Our actual fold-out mermaid page will be a black and white image colored in using colored pencils to look like an old photo. The mermaid image is copied off on fabric and then we create a beautiful flat mermaid using this image and the tail we have created. The background is a mass of beautiful fibers that we will free motion on your sewing machine to create a spectacular background for the mermaid to perch.
Other pages will be started and I will supply you with inspiring images to incorporate into your own journal.
We will be using silk fabrics, fibers, mohair, ribbons, yarns, threads, sea charms, pearls, beads, crystals, sea glass, shells, small star fish and sand dollars, trims, mother of pearl buttons, and anything else we can find to add to our mermaid journals, so start collecting now and see you in class.
